Is online homeschooling worth it? An honest look at the cost

Online homeschool, private school or tutoring on top of state school? A plain comparison of what UK families actually pay and what they get.

Money matters, and it's fine to say so. When families weigh up homeschooling, they're usually comparing three things: staying at school and adding a tutor, moving to a private school, or switching to a structured online homeschool.

What you're really paying for

Cost on its own tells you very little. The better question is: how much individual attention does my child get for that money? In a class of 30, a child might get a few minutes of one to one time a day. With 1:1 core lessons, every minute is theirs.

Our fees, plainly

The ilmspire homeschool is £499 a month for KS2 and £599 a month for KS3. That includes 1:1 Maths, English and Science, small group Arabic, Islamic Studies and Life Skills, supervised study labs, recorded Humanities and IT, and a weekly mentor note.

The hidden costs people forget

  • Uniform, travel and school trips if your child stays in school.
  • A private tutor on top, often £30 to £50 an hour.
  • Your own time, if you try to teach everything yourself.

So, is it worth it?

For some families, no. If your child is happy and thriving at school, a weekend booster group might be all you need. For others, a calmer, more personal education, with faith woven through the week, is worth every penny. Book a call and we'll tell you honestly which we think fits.
